Paris (Part 1)

I have just returned from a trip to Paris and London. I was in Europe meeting with agencies for about a week. I left Monday and getting to Paris was a series of way too many steps.

I took a cab from my apartment in NY to the train station, from there I took a train to the airport. The airport itself is a whole nother stress. First comes checking your suitcase and praying that it doesn't weigh over 50lbs. Which as a girl with all kinds of shoes and beauty products, 50 lbs is a hard limit to maintain.

Next is security. I hate this part. You stand in line waiting and waiting and waiting. Moving an inch per hour. Then when you finally make it to the front it's an all out marathon. Pull out your laptop, take off your shoes, take off your belt, remove extra layers, and empty your pockets. All this has to be done in 0.02 seconds while everyone behind you glares at you because you aren't going fast enough.

Then you sit in the terminal and wait to board for and hour and a half. Finally I made it on the plane and had a great seat. I had an aisle seat with no one next to me. After snack time I always like to check out what movies are available for watching. I was thrilled when Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was one of the movies included. I've been wanting to see it since it came out in theaters. Of course the sound kept cutting out so I wasn't able to watch it.

I arrived in Paris at 7:30am. From there I collected my bags, took a train into the city, and a subway to my hotel. I arrived at the hotel at 10am, which was way before check in time. But I decided to ask anyway as I was in serious need of a nap. I was told that if I check in now instead of waiting I'd have to take a single bed instead of a double. I told the man I was so tired I was just wanted sheets and a pillow. Which is pretty much what I got.
The bed was a couch bed / pull out couch / take the couch cover off and it's a bed.

First it's a couch
Then it's a bed!

Then I tried to get the Internet working to email my mom to calm her nerves. I couldn't get it to work so I took a quick nap and was off to meet some agencies. I made it to the first 2 appointments but had a difficult time finding the last agency.
I found the address, but the agency wasn't listed on the directory. I asked several people, but they clearly did not speak English. Then I snuck into the building behind someone going in from a cig break. From there I rode the elevator to every floor but could not find it.

So I returned home to try and conquer the miss behaving Internet. I couldn't seem to get it working so I went to the front desk for assistance. Well, apparently 2 days before there was a flood that cause a fire that burned the Internet. Therefore there was no Internet. So they pointed me in the direction of a cafe that had free wifi. Of course I had to buy something so I went for some hot chocolate. This was the most ridiculously expensive hot chocolate ever. $9 for a cup of Miss Swiss. Got to be joking!
But I was able to get my details for the next days appointments.

And a few pictures of my hotel view!

The Fabulous End

I have very mixed feelings about furs.
One on hand fur coats are absolutely beautiful.
On the other hand, I love animals and don't want them being hurt =[
But my last show of New York Spring 2011 Fashion Week, was fur.

Helen Yarmak
This show was probably the most fabulous day of my life.
Helen is Russian, and if there is anything to know about Russians, it's they like to party.
The best parties I've ever been to have all been Russian parties.

The show took place in the Helen Yarmak showroom. Which due to limited space, we actually had 7 shows through out the day.
I was one of the first models to arrive. The showroom was one of the penthouses in a building on 5th ave, bordering Central Park. Which made for an AMAZING view.

From there I had hair and make-up done.

(a shot from my phone)

After that the Vodka arrived, and it was Martinis for EVERYONE!
Here's pretty much how the day went.....
Vodka, Fur show, Chocolate, Vodka, Food, Chocolate, Vodka, Fur show, Vodka, Fur, Vodka, Vodka, Chocolate, Shots, Vodka, Fur, and Vodka with Fur.

There were Russian Hors d'oeuvres.
Which consisted of caviar, salmon on bread, some sort of chicken salad crepes, and some cake thing.
There were Russian candies and tons Russian chocolates (so delicious!)
Then the vodka.
They had vodka with pineapples in it, vodka with cherries in it, vodka smoothie shots, and at least 3 different types of martinis. (Lychee was the best, yum)

At one point I was waiting for the bathroom and a photographer comes stumbling out.
And of course I had the pleasure of getting to use the toilet that he sprayed down for me.
It isn't a party till someone can't pee straight!

Anyway, enough talk. On to the coats!

My first coat was made of fox. It was a dark brownish/black color that turned into red at the tips.
It matched my hair!

Looks like a bear!

My 2nd coat was fox as well. It was dyed turquoise.

My 3rd and last coat was a black vest. Not sure what animal it is =/

Just have to say, this was probably the most Fabulous day of my life.
Lounging around in $50,000+ fur coats, sipping martinis, and eating chocolate.

Malan Breton

I really enjoyed being a part of Malan Bretons show this season.
I really loved the whole theme of the show. It was very 20's.
The music for the show was provided by a 65 piece orchestra! There was a dance duet in the middle of the show, and two black poodles that graced the runway.

Outfit #1

This outfit has a funny story,
I got dressed in this look, but the outfit didn't have a cami with it.
So the dresser taped down the jacket with double stick tape to keep my boobs from popping out.
(this is common trick used when garments are low cut)

All of the models are lined up ready to go. I'm near the front in my outfit.
The way the runways are laid out make it possible for a few people in the audience able to see backstage.
So if you're close to going on, some people can see you before you go.

I've created an illustration to better explain this.

Tan circles = People
Light blue area = Visibility

So there I am standing backstage, in my pants and jacket, about to start the show.
When suddenly Malan runs over saying the outfit needs a shirt underneath it!
Someone grabs a tank top, I quick rip off the jacket, tear the double stick tape off my chest, and in the process of putting the tank top on, I realize I'm in full visibility.
I look up and about 16 people sitting in the audience are wide eyed, jaws open, and leaned over so far they're just about falling out of their seats looking at my boobs.
So embarrassing!

But the outfit was fixed!

And my finale outfit!
Love<3

Stayed tuned for more! Kisses

Catherine Malandrino

This year I was really excited to be in Catherine Malandrinos Spring 2011.
I think shes a beautiful designer. Everything is very wearable yet elegant.

Her show was a presentation at Lincoln center. But it wasn't in the tents, it was outside.
There were pedestals spaced out around a water fountain in Lincoln center.

I loved my outfit. The jacket was really neat.
A lot of people in the audience really liked it too. =]
Too bad I can't find any close ups of it =/

More shows to come!
